Thabiso Hendrik Majoe: A Community Builder Committed To Serving Ward 7 Finetown

Thabiso Hendrik Majoe is an activator from Finetown, Gauteng. Majoe is a proven community leader and founder of various community projects that has earned him the trust of his community members in ward 7 as being fit to serve as their councillor.

Having been raised in poverty and in cramped living conditions, Majoe understands the realities faced by many families in Finetown. Nevertheless, he has proven that strong family values and parents raising their children with dignity and disciple helps shape the kind of people their children later become. In Majoe’s case, he has become a selfless community servant. In his words, “strong family bonds are the foundation of personal growth and community progress”.

Founder of Finetown Movement Response Team

Founded in 2024, Finetown Movement Response Team is a registered community-driven organisation that aims to address community challenges such as policy issues, water cuts and public safety issues. The Movement has delivered several programmes that continue to transform lives in Finetown:

1. Do Cha Cleva– A school safety initiative that conducts random searches to keep weapons, drugs, and violence out of classrooms while ensuring learners remain on school premises during school hours.
2. Perfect Fit- A clothing redistribution programme that collects gently used garments from the community and distributes them free of charge to families in need.
3. Finetown Power of Faith (Senior League) – A weekly support programme for the elderly featuring prayer sessions, intercessory outreach to the sick, and a three-day fitness programme to promote physical and spiritual well-being.
4. Small Beginnings – Thabiso’s proudest initiative, which provides emergency housing, food parcels, and starter kits to families whose shacks have been destroyed by fire, helping them rebuild their lives with dignity.
5. Share a Plate – A food-sharing programme that ensures no family goes hungry in times of crisis.

Majoe also offers mentoring to young people, where he engages with them, offers guidance, love and practical support.

Collaborations

To amplify his reach and the impact of his work, he has collaborated with a wide network of partners, including the:

• Zenzele Counselling Project,
• local and provincial clinics,
• The Ahmed Kathrada Foundation,
• Alfurquan and
• Alta Weed Islamic Centres,
• community churches,
• local schools,
• HHP, and the
• South African Police Service (SAPS).

Lisa Ashton, his long-time collaborator from the UK, has said, “With Thabiso Majoe’s leadership skills, he can become the next president of his own country. I strongly believe so because I have seen his work and the love he has for his people.”

Vision for Ward 7, Finetown, and Ennerdale

Majoe has identified these three most pressing challenges facing the ward:

1. Poor service delivery and crumbling infrastructure.
2. The complete absence of skills-development centres.
3. Lack of information, knowledge, and transparency among residents and youth.

If elected as Ward Councillor, his first priority will be to establish a fully functioning Community Information Hub — a central place where residents can access clear, timely information about municipal services, opportunities, and developments.

Drawing on his proven track record, he will drive accountability, fight corruption, and ensure that every rand meant for the community reaches the people it is intended to serve. His personal motto captures his philosophy: “No matter how hungry you can be, do not eat what is not intended for you.”

He describes himself as not being a politician seeking a title, but a community builder who has already spent years delivering results where it matters most. His journey shows that meaningful leadership begins long before election day, with a commitment to improving the lives of others one community initiative at a time.
